Receipts and Statements of Medical Expenses

When an insured individual or a family member (dependent) has received an examination, a "receipt" and a "statement" indicating the contents of the medical expenses are issued.
The receipt gives the general breakdown of the expenses, such as "Initial/Re-examination," "Testing," and "Drug administration." A more detailed statement (examination statement) gives the names of the tests and the number of times they were administered, the drug names, and other details that you can check. As a rule, healthcare providers and pharmacies are required to issue the statements free of charge.
Receipts are required when deducting medical expenses from tax returns, so please store them in a safe place.

Benefits of "receipts" and "statements"

  • You can get an overall understanding of the contents of your treatment
  • You gain greater interest in your medical care and medical expenses
  • It leads to reception of medical services with an awareness of costs
