Health Insurance System

Insurer and Insured Individuals

The insurer is the Health Insurance Society

Individuals or groups that conduct business, such as companies, are referred to as "business operators," but in the case of health insurance, the party that receives payment of insurance premiums, pays insurance benefits, and conducts other health insurance business is referred to as the "insurer."
In our case, we have established our own Health Insurance Society, so the Health Insurance Society is the insurer.

The insured individuals are all employees

From the day we are hired, we become "insured individuals" under health insurance and the various other types of social insurance, and are issued a "Health Insurance Card" (insurance card). Starting with the next month, insurance premiums are deducted from our monthly salaries.
In regard to social insurance, generally, individuals who work 30 hours or more per week and individuals who work 20 hours or more per week with a monthly wage of \88,000 or more at a company with 501 or more employees (non-students who are anticipated to be employed for at least one year) are all compelled by law to enroll in insurance whether they want to or not. In addition, short-time workers employed under the conditions indicated above at companies with 500 employees or less can enroll in social insurance if an agreement is reached between labor and management.
The requirement for all citizens to be enrolled in health insurance or National Health Insurance, etc., is referred to as "universal health insurance," and individuals cannot enroll in or withdraw from health insurance on their own volition.
